Hi. My name is Abby Chao, and I’m a student at USC studying finance and entrepreneurship. I love playing tennis, I want to visit 50 countries by age 50, and I believe reading makes you smarter. Most of all, I chase my dreams as hard as I can.

The Longer Version
Despite my current persona as the quintessential business student, I grew up in an engineering-dominant environment. After going to a math and science high school, most of my friends at home in Illinois are soon-to-be doctors or engineers.
After high school, I went to the University of Southern California for the spirit of entrepreneurship – plus great weather and “chill” culture. However, I got a lot more than I bargained for. For example, in my time in Los Angeles, I have:
- Caught an octopus in my bare hands while snorkeling off Catalina Island
- Said “hello” to Ludacris in my freshman dormitory
- Gone sky-diving… and spotted Mila Kunis prepping to sky-dive as well
- Flown a plane up and down the Santa Monica coastline
On a more serious note, I’ve also had some fantastic career opportunities over the past few years. My internships have allowed me to work with million-dollar microscopes at a nanotechnology startup, watch marijuana debates in LA City Hall, spend 3 months in Shanghai with GreenTree Hotels, pitch acquisition ideas at Internet Brands, and get a first-hand look into Corporate America through Goldman Sachs.
On campus at USC, I am deeply passionate about my co-ed business fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi, as well as the Marshall Case Team and the volunteer consulting group, Los Angeles Community Impact (LACI). In these organizations, I have been extremely fortunate in meeting incredible people and making close friends.
Life is amazing.
